Medical ID It is very important that your specific medical condition is known to any medical emergency personnel who may have to treat you. It is suggested that patients with COPD, emphysema, transplant recipients, diabetics (you get the picture) wear some sort of identification to indicate the illness or medications they may be affected by. You should always carry a list of the medications that you take on a regular basis with you. This could be typed up on a 3 X 5 card and stuck in your wallet along with your doctor's name and phone numbers. I always prepare a list before I am being admitted to the hospital so I don't have to waste my breath repeating and repeating the list of meds. You may be interested in some type of medical alert bracelet or necklace. The following address takes you to a page for Lauren's Hope, a company that makes some pretty (and pricey) medical bracelets. http://www.laurenshope.com/ In addition, this web site offers a wide variety and price range of medical bracelets, necklaces, charms and identifiers: http://www.missbrooke.com/ This is the site for the original medic alert bracelets where your information is in a database that a hospital or doctor would contact in an emergency: http://www.medicalert.org This company offers some very inexpensive tags and it included shipping and engraving in the price. I have not ordered from them but the variety of choice ranges from watch tags at $5.95 to shoe tags for children and metal plates for your wallet. http://www.oneida-medical-jewelry.com/
