    Smoking Cessation

You've been told to stop smoking. Easy for “them” to tell you this. This is not an easy venture and you are not doing it alone. Your family and friends will support you and you can certainly find support through the email mailing lists. There are many helpful web sites where you can follow your own progress, including how much money you save by quitting. Your very life depends on your success and in some cases, getting treatment for Alpha 1 depends on being nicotine free. Explore the sites, set your goals and you will be successful.

QuitNet allows you to be pro-active and calculate your success.

The Surgeon General's web site offers smoking cessation information in PDF files, in English and Spanish.

The American Lung Association informative web site is another wonderful resource. Here you can also read about others who have been right where you are now….on the edge, knowing you must quit and ready to take your health back into your hands.

Nicotine Addiction is just part of the problem when you try to stop smoking. This web site may help you understand this addiction and we encourage you to read about the ways you can get through the process. Don't get caught up in all the available products out there to help you quit, but begin by knowing what is there to help you. Then, you can talk with your doctor and decide on the best plan for you.
