Second Annual Alpha-1 Advocacy Alliance Show & Shine

    Dear Alpha Families,

Fall is here and so is our Second Annual Alpha-1 Advocacy Alliance Car Show and Shine 9 September 2006. It's a fundraising event for the Alpha-1 Advocacy Alliance and getting a chance to spread the word about Alpha-1 while checking out some really awesome vehicles.

We'll be doing trophies to Top 35, Oldest driver, Oldest vehicle, and the Best In Show.

If you have a vehicle yourself and would like to enter, please e-mail me at: bpoplett@alpha1advocacy.org or call me at (757) 490-5989 and I'll get you an entry form. Stay well and hope to see you in September.
    Sincerely,

    Bill Poplett
    Chairman of the Board

    Bill's car

PS- My ride; a 1951 Chevy Business Coupe but has 'a few' modifications.  Front end was changed over to a IFS (Mustang II Independent Front Suspension), 350 Chevy V8 coupled to a Chevy Turbo 350 Automatic Transmission, a 1952 Chevy front grill, remanufactured 1936 Desoto Ribbed Bumpers, A/C, Power Brakes, AM/FM/CD player, a 1950 Oldsmobile Dash with new age Electronic Gauges, Tuck n Rolled Red/Gray Pleated Seats on original frames, Black Carpeting, Original Tinted Windows, Body lines redone to show chop top, Shaved Door handles so now using Electric door poppers and also have Electric Windows, Frenched in Headlights, Frenched in 1959 Caddy Taillights, Smoothed over gas tank door on side and now pump gas from behind the hidden door of the license plate and into a NASCAR Fuel Cell, All new brakes, shocks, springs, ran battery from trunk to keep the smooth fire wall of the car, switched to a Holley 2bl vs a 4bl (gas prices you know).  A friend offered me use of his Hot Rod Shop's professional paint booth once I finish the body work up.  That in itself is a huge savings for me.  All the interior garnish moldings and dash will be painted Candy Apple Red while the outside will be kept in primer Black till the official Candy Apple Red paint will be sprayed.  Hmmmm, I think that about covers it.  It's a work in progress but a joy to take my mind off the lung problems and look to the future as I spread the word on Alpha-1 and our organization in its efforts to assist our fellow Alpha Family.
