Traveling for Care Many patients need help with transportation to and from their treatment centers. This may be for transplant evaluation, follow-up visits, traveling to the transplant center, or emergency care at their treatment center. Air travel can be very expensive and anyone dealing with a chronic illness knows how financially devastating these expenses just for transportation can be. The National Patient Air Travel Program helps patients in just these situations. Visit their web site for a comprehensive view of the services they provide. http://www.patienttravel.org/ Accommodations Whether you travel to a center for evaluation, treatment or illness, one often finds themselves needing overnight accommodations for days or even weeks while they await their loved one's recovery. After transplant, you may need to stay in the area for several weeks while undergoing post-transplant physical therapy. The National Association of Hospital Hospitality Houses may be a viable option.
