Travel Tips: The following site is a commercial one that offers to arrange oxygen and your travel plans for the COPD patient. I have no experience with this company so I can not endorse it. Check it out and give us feedback if you use it. http://www.theoxygentraveler.com This is a rather unusual web site from a person who is disabled in a wheelchair. He offers some very good travel advice and reviews of cities on their accessibility to disabled travelers in wheelchairs. One section that I found especially interesting was the "Resource Page". This one gives you many, many destinations and what is offered specifically in that city and how it caters to someone with disability issues. Don't be offended by the name http://www.gimponthego.com/ I found this site for traveling with oxygen and found that the services they offer are extensive. I have no idea how expensive they are but what they offer seems to fill the gaps where the airports stop short. They even offer an escort service for people traveling by airplane to dispense meds and wheel you while you are traveling. They also state that they can provide oxygen for layovers at airports, which the airlines do not supply. Let us know if you use this company and tell us how it worked for you! http://www.aeromedic.com/aeromedic/index.asp Which Airline Supplies Oxygen? This website lists each airline and tells you what they want you to supply and lists how much they charge. As with everything, prices are subject to change and an airline can change policy at any time so do NOT relay on just what you read here. Call the airline and verify everything you read and get the name of who you speak with and WRITE IT DOWN. J http://www.breathineasy.com/tips_compare.html The Breathin' Easy web site advertises that they can get you oxygen wherever you need it. They also have some great articles including listing each airline that offers oxygen to travelers and what they charge per leg of the trip. They do recommend that you use this as a guideline for comparison not a price quote as regulations change daily. http://www.breathineasy.com/Default.htm This company is in the business of selling vacations to disabled individuals and lists multiple cruises available. I have no experience with any of this so check with BBB before you book any cruises with any company. They offer a lot of equipment for sale on the site as well as cruises for power operated wheelchairs. There are some interesting links as well. Let us know if you use them. http://www.medicaltravel.org/ As always, the American Lung Association provides a good website for travel information and oxygen needs: http://www.lungusa.org This web site features an available carrying bag for oxygen tanks. It's designed with this in mind and a bit pricey (in my opinion). But, check out the whole site for anything that may make traveling easier. http://www.boffobag.com Always keep medicine with you not with baggage! And remember, bring more meds than you will need on your trip as one never knows when the trip could be extended. Be prepared to explain any needles if you have any injection supplies by bringing a doctors prescription and letter explaining these. This may help getting them through inspections, but is certainly no guarantee.
